Yonkers Station

Project Description:

Lynn Drobbin & Associates (LDA) prepared a conditions assessment and an historic evaluation study of the National Register listed Yonkers Station, which included the station building, platforms, the viaduct and a 3,000-foot-long retaining wall that extends south and north of the railroad station.. LDA also performed an historical survey of the station building exterior and interior, identifying significant historic features that were missing or had been altered and that should be restored or replaced.  LDA categorized specific elements of the station site to determine the level of design sensitivity for new construction and repair.

LDA conducted background research on the project area and the historic structures in the project study area in compliance with Section 106.  LDA coordinated the project with the City of Yonkers, SHPO, and the Federal Transit Administration.  The project received an award from the New York State Preservation League.
