Lynn Drobbin & Associates (LDA) prepared an Historic Architectural Resource Background Study and Effects Assessments for the rehabilitation of 13 historic plate girder bridges on the Raritan Valley Line, historically known as the Central Railroad of New Jersey Main Line Historic District. LDA coordinated with the SHPO, Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and the City of Plainfield Historic Preservation Commission. The project goals were to increase the clearance of the bridges, and also included the rehabilitation of each bridge. Historic considerations at specified locations included the replacement of the original Central Railroad of New Jersey (CNJ) logo on the bridge fascias, the restoration of original bluestone sidewalks, and the preservation of the original masonry abutments |
