Newark City Subway - Tile Mosaic Plaque

Project Description:

Lynn Drobbin & Associates prepared Section 106 documentation and coordinated with architects and engineers to rehabilitate and provide access in compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) for the Newark City Subway (NCS).   LDA prepared a detailed historic report of the NCS which determined that the system was eligible for National Register listing. LDA also prepared an Existing Conditions Report and Effects Assessments for the following stations on the Newark City Subway system:

  • Newark Penn,
  • Broad Street,
  • Washington Street,
  • Warren Street,
  • Orange Street,
  • Park Avenue,
  • Bloomfield Avenue,
  • Davenport Avenue,
  • Norfolk Street,
  • Heller Parkway, and
  • Franklin-Heller.

The design included the provision of elevators, new stairs and other improvements in compliance with ADA.  The review also included State Register review and the preparation of a Memorandum of Agreement to ensure that mitigation measures are considered during final design and construction.
