Stone Arch Bridge at Bronxville

Project Description:

Lynn Drobbin & Associates (LDA) conducted the Section 106 review and analysis during the planning, design and construction phases of this project.  The historic scope primarily concerned the addition of a new span to carry a third track on a two-track stone arch bridge that was constructed in 1865.  The bridge, located in Bronxville, Westchester County, New York, is located on Metro-North’s Harlem Line and situated in the Bronx River Parkway Reservation.  The Bronx River Parkway Reservation is a National Register listed parkland owned by Westchester County.

LDA prepared an Historic Architectural Resource Background Study, an Effects Assessment, an Alternatives Analysis to Avoid the Adverse Effect on the Stone Arch Bridge, a Section 4f Evaluation, a Memorandum of Agreement and Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) documentation for the bridge.  The project was coordinated with the Westchester County Department of Parks and Recreation.

LDA also participated during the construction phase of this project monitoring the bridge design, stone selection, and date stone replication.
