Project Description:

Lynn Drobbin & Associates (LDA) worked for the General Services Administration, Region 2, on the New York/Canadian Border,  conducting the inspection and analysis and the creation of historic preservation plans for the following historic border stations: 

  • Rouses Point-St. Johns Highway Border Inspection Station, Clinton County, St. John's Highway, New York, Route 98, at the Canadian border. 
  • Rouses Point-Overtons Corners Border Inspection Station, New York State Route 276 crossroads with Canadian Route 221, Rouses Point, Clinton County, New York. 
  • Mooers Border Inspection Station, State Route 22,  Mooers, Clinton County, New York.
  • Chateaugay Border Inspection Station, Chateaugay, Franklin County, New York.
  • Trout River Border Inspection Station, New York State Route 30 and Westville Road, Trout River, Franklin County, New York. 
  • Fort Covington Border Inspection Station, Dundee Road, Fort Covington, Franklin County, New York.

LDA provided detailed analyses of each structure and its outbuildings through the use of original building plans, historic photographs and employee interviews.  Recommendations for the preservation or replacement of significant architectural features were made and accompanied by pertinent National Park Service Technical Preservation Briefs.  Detailed histories of the United States Customs and Immigration Department and of each historic building were also provided.
